Come on board for the fascinating journey into the outer Queen Charlotte Sound/Tōtaranui. Explore the beach and native bush, including a 30-minute walk to a picturesque waterfall, and enjoy your picnic at the waka-shaped picnic table. Discover why Ship Cove/Meretoto was important to local Māori and later became Captain James Cook’s favourite anchorage in the 1770s. Learn more about the Marlborough Sounds’ Māori and European heritage, and their early interactions, from the interpretive signs. Toilet facilities and shelter are available. When you're done, meet us at the jetty for the scenic cruise back to Picton via Endeavour Inlet - departing approx 2.30pm.
