South Island Golf Highlights Itinerary

Fly into picturesque Christchurch, a travel hub in the South Island. Set aside a few hours or a day to play Clearwater Golf Club, a short drive from the airport. The championship course has played host to a number of professional events on the PGA tour, Australasian PGA Tour, and Ladies European Tour. Designed by John Darby in consultation with New Zealand golfing legend Sir Bob Charles, you'll be starting your trip in style.

Christchurch City is the perfect mix of old and new, where urban regeneration and innovation mixes with heritage and culture. Visit the green heart of the Garden City, the Botanic Gardens or go punting along the Avon River. 

Start your day with a short flight from Christchurch to Queenstown. Enjoy sweeping views of mosaic farms and the Southern Alps. As you approach Queenstown you'll fly over several of the golf courses that have transformed the area into a golf haven.

Take the day to do something adventurous or sample delicious food and wine over lunch. There's so much to see and do in Queenstown.

Spend the day at Jack's Point, a breathtaking golf course set in a glacial valley. Designed with minimal earth moment, you'll experience amazing views of The Remarkables mountain range and Lake Wakatipu.

The fairways navigate dramatic outcrops of alpine rock and matagouri scrub. A visit to the expertly designed clubhouse will top off your day.

Travel a short distance from Queenstown to Arrowtown to play The Hills course. The vision of owner Sir Michael Hill has ensured The Hills stands out from the rest with its challenging holes and impressive sculptures. These are complemented by various lakes, waterways and wetland areas. 

Established during the Otago gold rush, Arrowtown is a picturesque settlement with tree-lined streets of restored cottages and gold mining sites. A definite must-see if you're in the area.

Spend the day at Millbrook Golf Course near Queenstown. Located in a natural alpine environment set against a backdrop of mountains, it's an incredible location.

The immaculate fairways navigate natural hazards including tussock, streams, schist stone and trees. The 27 holes offer a variety of playing options and a full-service spa and lush accommodation are just a short stroll away.

There's so much to see and do in Queenstown, it's hard to know where to start. Take a trip up the Skyline Gondola for epic views (and maybe a ride on the Luge), or go for a stroll around picturesque Lake Wakatipu. Taste exquisite wine over lunch at a local vineyard and don't miss the wine cave tour at Gibbston Valley Winery.

If you're feeling adventurous, why not give bungy-jumping or jet boating a go? Finish the day off with a soak under the stars in the hot pools.
