Proximity

The township of Ross was first settled in 1865, during the West Coast gold rush. Today it is rich with gold-mining history and West Coast charm.

Ross, a small gold-mining town established in the 1860s, is a quiet place to base yourself and explore popular West Coast attractions including Franz Josef Glacier and Fox Glacier, Punakaiki (Pancake Rocks), Lake Brunner and Arthurs Pass.

Visit the Ross Goldfields Visitor Information Centre where you can go gold-panning, see relics, including a miners cottage or stroll along the 1-hour gold trail walk.

Ross has several other walking tracks and is the end point on the West Coast Wilderness Trail
