The Pinnacles Track climbs through ruggedly beautiful mountain ranges in The Coromandel. It's one of New Zealand's most popular overnight walks.
Located upriver from Thames in the stunning Kaueranga Valley, The Pinnacles Walk follows an original packhorse track constructed in the early 1900s for transporting natural resources through lush forest.
Kauaeranga Roadend > Pinnacles Hut
Cross the swingbridge and follow the track to Webb Creek before joining the historic packhorse and kauri loggers' route to the hydro Camp. Take in spectacular east coast views as you follow the ridgeline, then descend to the Pinnacles Hut.
Pinnacles Hut > Pinnacles > Billygoat Track
To catch the ultimate beauty of the valley, climb to the the 40min walk very top of the Pinnacles, where you can enjoy the 360-degree views of both coasts of the Coromandel, the Bay of Plenty and the Hauraki Gulf and Plains. At sunrise, this is a truly magical experience.
Return via the Billygoat track to Kauaeranga road end.
Track conditions often change. Be prepared by checking with the Department of Conservation before you go.
