Industrial timber machinery and actual kauri logs form part of the exhibits.
A full sized sawmill has been re constructed in the Museum. At its heart is a rare Davey Paxman Portable Steam Engine, built in England in 1921, and one of the last ever made.
The stand out in the Museum's machinery collection is a Caterpillar 60 Bulldozer. Sitting proudly in the Operational Machinery Wing, the Cat 60 was considered to be very important for replacing the once mighty bullock teams in the kauri and native bushes
The Museum includes fascinating recreations of historic homes and workplaces, fully furnished with original decor, valuable Northland heritage pieces and lifelike models dressed in period clothing.
