Home to the now buried Pink and White Terraces, the eighth natural wonder of the world, visitors are immersed in the stories of the Mt Tarawera volcanic eruption, its people, and the resulting dramatic landscape changes that created the world’s youngest geothermal valley. Products include self-guided or guided walks and hikes, boat cruises or kayak tours on Lake Rotomahana, and full day Pink and White Terraces Legacy tours. Experience spectacular volcanic craters, enormous hot water springs, beautiful geothermal features, rare and unusual plant life, brilliantly coloured microbiology and a wide array of birds. Highlights include Frying Pan Lake, the world’s largest hot spring, the bright blue Inferno Crater and Lake Rotomahana.
