A city of makers and creators, Dunedin is well-known for its artisan jewellers.
Known for their bold, distinctive statements and quality materials, a piece of unique Dunedin jewellery is the ultimate memento from your kiwi holiday.
Award-winning designs and bold statements are the name of the game for Dunedin’s resident jewellery designers.
Debra Fallowfield makes ‘extraordinary jewellery for uncommon people’, which translates as truly unique and beautiful pieces that combine different textures and colours for stunning results. Based in Port Chalmers with a gallery on the main street, Debra has a range of ready to wear collections, and also creates bespoke pieces by commission.
Simple, high quality pieces that stand out from the crowd are signature to the Holly Howe brand. Featured in British Vogue and the winner of the AMP Scholarship award, Holly Howe’s creations are stocked in both New Zealand and Australian boutiques. In Dunedin her collections can be found at Moi George Street and St Clair or the Charmaine Reveley boutique.
With over 25 years of experience in jewellery design, Chris Idour is one of Dunedin’s most well-known designers. Often using locally sourced gold in his creations, Chris custom-designs jewellery for his clients, and is passionate about one-off designs. He works from his home in Dunedin’s St Clair, but you can enjoy his work at Quadrant Gallery or the Otago Museum gift shop.
Lure is a small jewellers studio tucked away on Lower Stuart Street with fabulous old wooden drawers that open to reveal shimmering jewellery treasures inside. Created by jeweller Ann Curly in 1995 as an inner-city work and retail space for contemporary New Zealand jewellery, Lure is a great place to find a special, uniquely New Zealand gift for somebody back home.
The Quadrant Gallery is a good go-to to view a wide range of designer-made jewellery as well as other artworks including glassware and ceramics. Located in Moray Place, the gallery is run by Dunedin jeweller and sculptor David Mcleod and partner Anne Jackman.
