Discover Hawke's Bay with this 3-day leisurely pathways itinerary
Starting at the historic port village of Ahuriri, make your way along the picturesque Ahuriri Estuary. Wind through wetlands towards Taradale for lunch at the Mission Estate or Church Road wineries before completing the scenic 20km Puketapu Loop trail, a real favourite with locals as well as visitors. The trail follows the Tutaekuri River west to the rural community of Puketapu with its classic Kiwi pub, a great stop for refreshments. Proceed to Taradale for your overnight stay.

Spend the morning on a beautiful ride through orchard and farmland country, as you follow the rivers of the Tutaekuri and Ngaruroro to the world acclaimed Ngatarawa Gimblett Gravels appellation. The afternoon is all about the wine! Enjoy the ambience of the many cellar doors offerings and winery style food, before taking a late afternoon transfer to your overnight accommodation in the vibrant town of Havelock North.

Following the Tuki Tuki River trail, make your way to the coast and the East Clive wetlands, home to a range of New Zealand's native birds. The countryside is dominated by apple orchards, vineyards and market gardens, which gives the region it's status as the Food Bowl of New Zealand. The trail takes you along the Norfolk Palm lined Marine Parade to the centre of Napier, the ‘Art Deco Capital of the World’. Spend some time exploring the city's distinctive architecture before the final 5km cycle back to Ahuriri.
