Home to a nationally significant collection of art and objects that form the foundation of distinctive exhibitions. This is the place to get a fresh perspective on the region and stories new and familiar, including the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake. Our long term exhibition Kuru Taonga: Voices of Kahungunu is all about the history of people and places of Ngāti Kahungunu, telling the stories and events that shaped Te Matau-a-Māui as it is today.
