Follow the river upstream while passing between dramatic limestone cliffs and through sub-tropical forest.
If you’re in the area or close by in Punakaiki Village, get in touch with nature on this short walk through a spectacular limestone gorge.
Take a closer look at the Pororari River with its deep pools and huge rocks.
A quick stroll from the carpark will bring you to a lookout with spectacular views. From here, the track narrows and becomes a little steeper for another 2.5km until it meets the Inland Pack Track. Head down to the riverbed for a rest before retracing your steps back to the car park.
Track conditions often change. Be prepared by checking with the Department of Conservation before you go.
