Te Awanga is a beachside settlement in sunny Hawke's Bay. It's handy to Cape Kidnappers, a popular spot for both golf lovers and bird watchers.
Originally developed as a holiday settlement, Te Awanga lies on the coast south of Napier. When large swells from the east roll into the bay, the surf is fantastic. The town is surrounded by shops, cafes and wineries and is a great place for fishing, swimming and boating. Te Awanga is also home to a popular farmyard petting zoo, popular with all ages.
Accommodation in the town itself is somewhat limited, but Te Awanga is a charming place to stop for a picnic, a surf or a swim.
