As we leave Queenstown, the drive starts by following the Kawarau River through its gorge to the stone fruit growing region, which leads us over the tussock grassland covered Lindis Pass. Once we approach the mountains we will drive along the shores of the turquoise blue glacial waters of Lake Pukaki that take us to Mt Cook Village at the foot of the Southern Alps. The walking trail is mostly well maintained gravel path, following the milky blue waters melting from the surrounding glaciers, with alpine flowers lining the way. Don’t be alarmed if you hear an avalanche or the groaning of the glaciers as they lurch slowly down the mountains that tower above you. Possible our walks are Hooker Valley, Kea Point, Tasman Lake, Sealy or Red Tarns.
