P.S. Waimarie is the only coal-fired paddle steamer still operating in New Zealand today. Powered by an original Yarrow & Co boiler, she offers a unique visitor experience on the Whanganui River acting as a timeless link between the past and the present, inviting passengers to step back in time and savor the grandeur of a bygone era. Shes' also a perfect venue for those looking for a more unique venue option.
Salvaged from the bottom of the Whanganui River where she sat for around 50 years, the Paddle Steamer Waimarie was restored to her former glory and relaunched in 2000 to make her New Zealand’s only authentic coal-fired paddle steamer in operation.
