If you are after a friendly atmosphere, with varied terrain & great soft snow conditions then Broken River is the place for you.
Described as a “Hidden Gem” by Powderhounds.com, Broken River offers something special & a little different for adventurous off-piste riders.
Start your day with a stunning 4-minute ride up through native forest on NZ’s only alpine funicular railway. Spend the day exploring the rolling bowls & chutes of Broken River & Allan’s Basin. Take the Ridge Tow to Allan’s Basin for great powder runs and backcountry atmosphere. Relax in the sun with the locals on Palmer Lodge deck & sample Broken River’s own craft-brewed beer. Stay in our cosy on-mountain lodges, 10 mins walk from the lifts, for fine food & company.

Can I purchase food at the ski area?
The day lodge provides lunch and snacks and has BBQ and kitchen facilities.
Does the ski area have a terrain park?
The gentle terrain in front of Palmer lodge is an ideal, sunny playground for children with a learners tow. The Traverse Tow (100 metres away) provides slightly more challenging but gentle slopes and a place to practice using a tow clip.
