Hamurana is located 15km north-east of Rotorua and is renowned for the stunning Hamurana Springs which make this such a popular spot.
The streamside walk runs through a Redwood grove with beautiful views of the crystal clear stream, that runs out into Lake Rotorua. Trout are often clearly visible moving in and out of the lush weed beds and the clarity of water itself defies belief.
The walk offers plenty of interest with views deep into the source of the deepest natural fresh water spring in the North Island and views of "The Dancing Sands" named because of the effect of the emerging water on the sand on the bottom of the spring. The section of stream is approximately 1km and the walkway is a loop with a bridge crossing at the far end.
The Hamurana township itself is quite small with less than 900 dwellings.
