A small airfield in Golden Bay. Fly between Tākaka and Wellington or take a scenic flight to Farewell Spit, Abel Tasman and Kahurangi National Park.

Situated on the Northwest corner of the South Island is Tākaka Airport, a rural airfield servicing remote but spectacular Golden Bay.

Golden Bay Air(opens in new window) offers scheduled flights between Tākaka Airport and Wellington up to 4 times a day in the summer and 1-2 times a day (except Saturdays) in the winter. The 50 minute service is a scenic way to travel between the North and South Islands, with fantastic views of Wellington City and the coast, Marlborough Sounds and Abel Tasman National Park.

Scenic and charter flights also operate out of Tākaka airport, care of Golden Bay Air. Fly over golden sand beaches and azure waters of Abel Tasman National Park, the mountainous and ancient Kahurangi National Park, or the shifting sand dunes of Farwell Spit.
